It is the part of ourselves that we try to hide, suppress and fail to embrace. All humans are dualistic in nature (positive & negative) (yin & yang). Carl Jung said, the shadow is the person that we prefer not to become. But if we learn to love ourselves fully and embrace both the good & the bad then we can allow the shadow self to arise and we can become authentic and live our highest/greatest potential. 1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear hath torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.
The shadow is the healthy human part of us that’s coming to support us in our evolution. It can also be all the parts of ourselves that we’ve given up such as our voice, how brilliant, unique, powerful and creative we are. If we don’t suppress it and allow it to transcend we can reinvent ourselves and live the life we truly desire. Be willing to explore it and don’t pretend that it’s not there. Find ways to love and support it.
So how do you face it and where do you start to discover the shadow self? So let’s peel back the layers of your life and uncover the shadow.
Every person that has shown up in your space is your projection. Some may be good and some may be negative, but no matter what it is you created it.
What beliefs have you subscribed to that have kept you stuck?
Why can’t you live your life in full self expression?
We resist where we are going because we don’t understand where we’re going. Embrace the positive and the negative of who you are so you can continue to evolve.
I’ll leave you with this quote, “anything that we don’t embrace & love becomes our shadow.”
